Normoxic Trimix

Depth can be a great preserver

Many dive destinations have a multitude of wrecks, reefs and sites of interest in the recreation diver range of 130 fsw.

They commonly have even more pristine sites at deeper depths. This makes them ideal locations to extend your knowledge and skills.

By the very nature of their depth, these sites are less visited and therefore "quieter". Big fish species are less intimidated by visits from divers so you get to see the full environmental food chain on the site at the same time.

The Normoxic Trimix course will train you to plan and execute dives in a training range of 130 fsw to 200 fsw.

What You'll Learn

You and your instructor will work through the training materials and Technical Encyclopedia to learn to plan dives:

  • with a minimum oxygen content of 20% (+/-1%) to a maximum 200 fsw with maximum PO2 of 1.4 and 1.61 during the dive/decompression phases respectively with a maximum of one gas switch
  • with a maximum END 120 fsw
  • with appropriate gas matching & turn pressures for the whole team

In the water the candidate must demonstrate:

  • in pool and open water the ability to handle with multiple equipment failures and problems without prior warning
  • proficient streamlining and fining/propulsion techniques
  • ability to repeatedly deploy lift bag in under 1.5 minutes
  • repeat all skills on min 4 dives / 300 minutes run time (3 beyond 130 fsw and 1 beyond 180 fsw)
